Mrs. Irène Melanson, 78, of Foyer St. Thomas, St. Joseph, and formerly of Pré-d'en-Haut, died Sunday at the home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Pré-d'en-Haut, she was a daughter of the late Adolphe and Léa (Cormier) Richard. She attended Notre Dame de l'Annonciation Roman Catholic Church, Pré-d'en-Haut, and was a member of the Pré-d'en-Haut Golden Age Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Pamphile Léger (Dorine) of St. Joseph; a son, Michel of Shediac; a sister, Mrs. Gilbert Melanson (Marguerite) of Pré-d'en-Haut; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Dominique, in 1990; two sisters, Léola and Séraphine, and four brothers, Elie, Raymond, Dosithé and Vital.
The body was cremated. The funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Notre Dame de l'Annonciation Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery
